- Folic acid: Synonyms: dihydro folic acid (DHF), Vitamin B9, Folate, Pteroyl-L-glutamic acid, It is used to treat megaloblastic anemia and folate deficiency. Enzyme dihydrofolate reductase converts folic acid to tetrahydrofolate. Tetrahydrofolate is used to synthesize purines and pyrimidines.Purines and pyrimidines are building blocks of RNA and DNA.
- Kernicterus: Brain damage in the newborn with jaundice. It is a rare disease.
